Square Body (1973–1987) Restoration Parts Checklist
July 14, 2026 · 5 min read

The longest-running classic Chevy truck
GM’s third-generation C/K launched for 1973 and ran fifteen model years, with the Blazer, Jimmy, Suburban and Crew Cab carrying on through 1991. Trims like Scottsdale and Custom Deluxe are household names, and the 1981 facelift gave the front end a sleeker, more aerodynamic look. Parts availability is excellent — which is exactly why square bodies have taken off.
Check these before you buy

- Bed sides and wheel arches
- Floor pans and cab mounts
The checklist
- Sheet metal — cab corners, rockers, fenders, bed panels
- Weatherstrip & rubber — doors, glass, cab, and tailgate seals

- Trim & emblems to finish the exterior
- Suspension, brakes, and steering while it’s apart
Whether you’re keeping it stock or dropping it in the weeds, order from the makers that tool these parts correctly — the same ones we run on our own trucks.
